Pizza
Making pizza at home is incredibly rewarding. Whether you want a crisp Neapolitan-style crust or a simple quick-bake pizza, the core process remains the same.
For 2–3 medium pizzas, follow this classic Tasty base:
Dry Ingredients: 3–4 cups all-purpose flour (or "00" flour for a finer texture), 1.5 tsp salt, and 1 tsp sugar.
Wet Ingredients: 1 cup warm water (lukewarm), 1 tbsp olive oil, and 2.5 tsp instant yeast.
Method:
Bloom: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5–10 mins until foamy.
Knead: Mix in flour, salt, and oil. Knead for 5–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Rise: Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1–2 hours (or until doubled).
Pro Tip: For better flavour, cold-ferment the dough in the fridge for 24–48 hours.
2. Easy Homemade Sauce
Avoid store-bought jars by quickly blending:
1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes (San Marzano preferred).
1 clove garlic (minced), 1 tsp dried oregano, and a pinch of salt.
Optional: A splash of olive oil and fresh basil leaves.
3. Assembly & Toppings
Cheese: Use low-moisture Mozzarella for a classic melt or fresh Mozzarella for Neapolitan style.
Veggies: Onions, capsicums, olives, or mushrooms.
Indian Twist: Add paneer cubes and tandoori masala for a fusion kick.
4. Baking for a Crispy Crust
Preheat: Set your oven to its highest setting (typically 240°C–280°C). If you have a pizza stone or steel, preheat it for at least 45 minutes.
Stretch: Gently stretch the dough (don't use a rolling pin if you want air bubbles) into a 10-12 inch circle.
Bake: Slide onto the hot stone/tray and bake for 8–12 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
